The three counties typically referred to as being Northern Kentucky are Boone, Campbell, and Kenton. As of the 2010 Census, their population was estimated at 375,000. Within those counties, cities such as Covington, Newport, Bellevue and Dayton are all within a few minutes of downtown Cincinnati.

Northern Kentucky has experienced significant growth over the last 25 years. Luxury developments such as Triple Crown and Wiedemann Hill have proven successful. Also, notable condominium buildings have been constructed on the banks of the Ohio River that take advantage of unobstructed views of the Cincinnati city skyline.

This area is proud to have some of the highest ranked schools in Kentucky. These include public schools such as Highlands High and Beechwood High. Highly rated private schools include Covington Latin, Notre Dame Academy, and Covington Catholic. Devou Park in Park Hills is the area’s premier park.

Many regional companies employ Northern Kentucky residents. These include: the Kroger Company with 21,650 employees and University of Cincinnati with 16,000. Others include: Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center, TriHealth, Inc. Procter & Gamble, UC Health, GE Aviation, Mercy Health, Kentucky St. Elizabeth Healthcare, and Fifth Third Bancorp. The Greater Cincinnati Northern Kentucky airport is located in Kenton County and is about 20 minutes to downtown Cincinnati.
